Gas/electric fixtures are wonderful pieces of turn of the century technology as they represent the transition from one lighting source to another. Dating from the early 1890’s, fixtures were in use well until the 1920’s.

The picture on the left shows the interior center body configuration. The gas arms were threaded into the cast iron center and sealed with "red lead" to prevent leakage.

The original "batswing" gas burners are intact along with the pie crust shade holders. A decision was made to electrify the gas arms in order to provide more light for today's lighting requirements.
